Rabbits v Ladies

Rabbits v ladies

The annual challenge took place today with the Ladies reclaiming the trophy after a 5 – 2 victory. Amidst some very good scoring in damp conditions, with Mr Captain and his partner Tom Watts scoring 48 points, the ladies strength in depth prevailed and the Lady Captain Olwen was seen with a big smile on her face after being congratulated by the Rabbits Captain, Tom.

Tea and scones were offered to the participants after the match and many stayed for a quick social get together. Any Lady or Rabbit that didn’t play this year can keep an eye out for the signing up sheet next year and take part in a very enjoyable day.

13/05/2013 – Weekend results

Following a gross level par 35 strokes on the front nine holes on Saturday, J C Sykes lead the way with 42 points in the Rabbit Stableford. Playing what can only be described as immaculate golf, the 26 points he scored going out contributed strongly to the 42 total points scored.

Full results for the gents and ladies competitions can be found via the results page.

10/05/2013 – Club Local Rules update

Following the recent rain we have experienced and the request made by a member, the local rules have been updated and posted next to the PSI machine in the locker room. Please take the time to read the notice as understanding the rules could help your scores.

Team sheets posted

Members are invited to play for the Scratch or Handicap teams and can now sign up in the locker room. All the fixtures are showing on the website under the Team fixtures page in the Members area, so please sign up and let the captains know when you are available.

08/05/2013 – Member suggestion response

Using the member suggestions page of the website, one of our members asked the following question – “Could the club give consideration to extending a free drop for a plugged ball to “through the green” in line with the PGA.”

This request was discussed at length during the Handicap and Competitions Committee meeting held on 7th May by all attending members of the Committee and Mr Captain. This rule is currently not within the recognised rules of golf. Also, it is not a permanent local rule as displayed on the course scorecard but has in the past been used, as recently as May 2012, as a club local rule as and when it is felt the condition of the course deemed it appropriate. It was felt, adding a club permanent local rule that is not displayed on the scorecard could be confusing and that the current routine be continued.

To recap the current local rules routine – the only local rules currently in place are those on the course scorecard and any that are posted on notices next to the PSI.

Thank you to our member for his question, the first question to be asked via our website and should anyone else like to ask a question, please do not hesitate to use the Member Suggestions page.

Webster Wilson Rosebowl

Following the release of the weekends results, the Club Order Of Merit has been updated and last years multi major winner Alex Malins once again leads the way with 16 points. Second with 14 points is Eric Riley and joint third with 10 points are Kevin Hutchinson and Alan Jacks. Early days yet but well done Alex on setting such a high standard. Wednesday Society

The Huddersfield Wednesday Golfing Society played Bradley this week bringing to the club 34 players from the local area. On what was a beautiful day, BPGC members Alan Brown and Mr Captain David Pickett did the club proud by finishing 1st and 2nd in division two. Thanks go to our members who represented the club and with the society returning later in the summer it would be great to see more members represent our club and hopefully take home the prizes once again.
