29/06/2013 – Speed of play update
Further to the notice posted on 02/06/2013 – the club are continuing their efforts with assisting members to speed up play. With this in mind, below are the suggestions made on the official R&A website with regards to how best to play at a suitable speed:
1/ Be aware of your position with regard to the group in front and keep up with that group.
2/ If you feel that your group is losing ground, tell the other players in your group.
3/ If your group is behind, try to catch up.
4/ If you lose a clear hole and are delaying the group behind, or if there is no group in front of you and you are delaying the group behind, invite the group behind to play through.
5/ Be ready to play your shot. While exercising due consideration for other players in your group, put your glove on, check your yardage, pick your club and line up your putt while others are playing.
6/ At the green, speed up your exit by positioning your bags on the way to the next tee.
7/ Move off the green as soon as all players in your group have holed out and mark score cards at or on the way to the next tee.
8/ Play a provisional ball if your ball may be lost outside a hazard or out of bounds.

The Club Championship Draw has now taken place and can be seen below.
27/06/2013 – Ladies success
Playing at home versus West End last night, the ladies put in a spectacular performance to win 4-0. The team players of Lindsay, Elise, Pam and Sheila (Braithwaite) all played too well for their opponents and this result further highlights the strength of the team, which is led by Lindsay, in what is only their second season.
New Club Bag Tags
At last nights committee meeting, final agreement was confirmed with regards to the new club bag tag and these are now available for £2. The next opportunity to purchase a bag tag will be from the Club Championship registration desk where it is suggested you get in quick as they are already going fast….
This is the first time the club have offered the opportunity to sponsor the club bag tags to an external company and the club are very pleased to announce that Portal Financial Planning, www.portalfp.co.uk have subsidised the cost of the tags to keep the cost to our members at just £2.

HHDUGC – Seniors Championship
With the course in almost perfect condition, Bradley Park played host to the annual Union Seniors Competition on 11th June. With a number of prizes available, 44 golfers attended the event on what was a slightly damp day, though this seemed to only improve the opportunities for very good scores.
The overall gross competition was won by Chris Mear, who playing from a handicap of 2, shot a gross 75.
Special mention must be made to 2 BPGC members. Firstly Mr President JC Woods shot a gross 76 to come third in the gross comp but with a handicap of 10, won the net comp. Secondly, Alan Brown didn’t have the greatest round of golf and at one point late in the day was the only player to shoot a higher score than the oldest competitor in the competition, who is 92…
The signing up sheet for the Club Championship which this year takes place over the weekend of July 6th & 7th has been posted in the locker room. Members who are interested in playing have until Friday 28th June to sign up and the draw will be posted on line and in the locker room shortly after this date.
